Javier as Roland?
While I think Javier Bardem is a great actor and could easily perform as Roland, I am still on the fence as far as his appearance.
Some are probably calling fowl on that last statement, mainly about why would looks really matter.
As far as Roland is concerned though, they do.
Javier has that old weathered look that is crucial, but he also has a certain... density to his person that gives the idea that you just don't want to mess with this guy. In other words, he's fairly buff. Roland however was a character that as I read I pictured him as a gaunt man of small stature, one that most bullies would single out in order to make an example of.
Then he slings out the guns and quickly makes with the bloody violence.
That subtle quirk of hidden danger is what I am looking for.

Breaking the annual thing
Oh snap!
Alright, I am going to take a break on the whole silliness thing here and hang out in the more refined side of things for a minute.
A very good friend of mine not only started up a Media strategy and development company but he is also making it a success, a difficult task in these economic times.
Here is their demo reel and website.

Seriously take a look at some of their work, I've known Stephen since college and he has always surprised me with his depth of talent and scope of vision.

annual posting
So it looks like this thing has turned into a yearly blog post.
The book report project ended up being dumped, something more important came up for me (Which when placed in context to writing about Twilight, doesn't take much.) And Jess decided to read like fifty different books at the same time.
In the spirit of the project however I'll go ahead and give at least some idea of how I felt about the book.
It sucked.
Bad writing about an empty character that the reader can basically imagine themselves as and somehow enthralls a hundred year old immortal that shimmers like a Lisa Frank pencil on glitter crack when in direct sunlight apparently makes for a huge popular hit.
Why am I not surprised?
I think it's ok that people can read this thing and enjoy it, there are PLENTY of books that I have read and really enjoyed that were just as bad.
But honestly? All this craze about the characters and actors portraying them? Stupidity is apparently running unchecked in the universe that we currently occupy.
The only way I could really get through the book was to read the text with the mindset that Bella was just a schizophrenic and Edward was the awkward kid at school willing to go along with her ramblings about Vampires because he was already rejected by all the other girls in school.
It actually makes sense if you think about.
Also if you completely ignore the other books written afterwards.
Which I plan on doing......
And I think you should too.

Finally!
The following post was posted by Jess.
I have finally finished The Gunslinger. Due to sickness it took me 3 weeks to finally get through. Now I need to write this report.
Hopefully this doesn't take another 3 weeks!
