Dang it Fandango....

Movies.com used to be my major source for mainstream film info. Ratings, reviews, even upcoming buzz. Notice the bold there. Yea, you know where this is going to end up.

Apparently movies.com was bought by Fandango and then "incorporated" into the "fandango family." And by incorporated I mean completely tossed from the car as it barreled down the interstate doing 125 and revamped to be nothing more than a slightly different looking portal for Fandango. Click just about anywhere on that site, and you end up at Fandango.com with a tiny banner reminding you that Fandango is now Movies.com's pimp.

The short of it? Movies.com is now useless. It's nothing more than some homeless guy hanging out front yelling at you trying to convince you to walk into his trashy bar and spend $9.00 on a beer.

Oh Carlton.....

Weren't the 80's great? I mean it gave us shows like Captain Caveman, Today's Special, and of course, who could ever forget Voltron! (A.k.a Optimus Prime's moon-lighting gig.)

Of course as kids, we gobbled this crap up like it was pure white sugar. We didn't care that the Cap'n was nothing more than a dirty, smelly old homeless guy hanging around three hot teen "angels." Seriously, I think this show was produced by a couple of weird adult industry rejects. Just check out this episode, complete with bad porn music, the station sign reads "KXXX," and the Cap'n and his crew are on the "Bunny" show. Obviously someone had a grand ol' time sending stuff way over the heads of us kids back in the 80's.

And if we thought the Cap'n was as bad as it got, lets not forget your friend and mine.... the Shmoo, I don't even really need to explain to you what all is wrong with this cartoon.....

And Today's Special? I LOVED that show as a kid. Why? I have no clue, but oddly enough a few years later I would fall in love with Kim Cattrall as she too played the inspiring role of the store Mannequin forced to live out the day in a window only to turn into a real live person at night. She was HOT, and I was a confused 8 year old. Between these two programs my sense of reality was seriously skewed enough for me to not complain as much when Mom dragged me into the clothing stores.

Anyways, all of that was just to give me an excuse to show you this clip of Cousin Carlton's commercial for his own brand of break dancing.

It's a real gem (And the Holograms.... uh oh!)

Alright, that's it, I'm done, no more 80's videos.

What the....

I was just perusing the site and noticed my entirely useless Google ads over there had an ad for Lost. Ok, makes sense, I was griping about J.J. Abrams a while ago... no big deal right?

But Then I see like three ads dealing with Skin Rashes.... well what the heck is that all about?? Since when was I talking about any kind of skin issues let alone issues of the rash variety...?

Of course this has just become something akin to the whole self fulfilling prophesy. If they were able to pull rash associated material from my other posts, there's no telling what they will finagle with this one.

I'm Ultra Rare

I'm lazy. I know. I suck, I know!

I realise these facts and understand that I must atone for my misdeeds.

So how's this? If you type in "Most awesome website ever" into google This little gem pops up near the top.

Personally, I've always liked Mexican cuisine but honestly, lets not let the ego devour the Id. I'd LOVE to meet the web development team on this one and ask them how they were able to raise the funds to pay Google to boost them to the top of the list on that search parameter.

C'mon, who wants to donate the much needed currency to the "Put Josh to the top of the Google list for 'Most awesome person alive in 2008' search query." fund. Or, the PJTGLMAPA08SQ Fund.

I heard acronyms were all the rage lately and I just had to get in on that action. Didn't you know that I was secretly a conformist?

My Dearest Apologies...

For the longest time I thought this little corner of cyber space was only frequented by myself until a friend of mine commented that I hadn't posted here in such a long time.

I think most of the problem (besides being so stupidly busy) is that I usually find myself with nothing of importance to write about, and so I don't. Sometimes I'll head over to Movies.com and take a quick gander in their buzz bin to see if anything catches my eye there. Unfortunately the only thing I spotted today was a quick mention of Cloverfield. Of course Mr Abrams has been really hitting the whole viral marketing thing kinda hard, and I think that adds one more brick to the "JJ Abrams Likes to Confuse Foundation" building. All of his work exhibits some sense of mystery in one form or another, which is normally fine, but at some point you have to explain those mysteries, and not in a quick cop out kind of way just to get people off your back so you can go jump on board your next project. Alias suffered for Lost. Lost suffered for Mission Impossible three, or also known as Alias, the movie. Now he's working on this strange viral movie that no one really knows what it's about, and anything new released concerning the film only serves to further the state of mass confusion. Some think it's a Godzilla remake, others, the mighty morphing power rangers. You laugh, but I have seen arguments that this is a more serious take on the power rangers, and sometimes, I actually wonder.

A while back I also heard that JJ Abrams bought the rights to turn the Dark Tower series into a movie as well. I'm still on the fence about this, I usually like JJ's stuff straight out of the gate, but then again, it's not long before I lose interest because it begins to suffer for some other project of his. And while his movies tend to not follow this problem, that is usually because you spend about a year or two pounding the thing out and then your done with it. This a system that tends to fit perfectly into the attention span of Mr. Abrams. But the Dark Tower series is long, really long, and to do it justice it will need to be at the very least, seven films, a project that time wise, will far surpass that which we saw in The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Based on what I've seen in the past, I just can't see JJ committing to that kind of time intensive project without it suffering for some brand new shinny project that happens to catch his eye a year into it.

But that's just me.
