Really?

I find it very offensive, and telling in our society with the pretentiousness of it all that during the past THREE weeks of the constant Michael Jackson Coverage the following has happened in the world and yet has taken a back seat media wise so that our society could grind to a halt for that man.

Nothing has been politically resolved in Iran and yet people continue to protest and are ignored, due to the continued media black out, we know nothing of what is happening to the populace. The Iranian police has said however any new protests will be "smashed."

On June 28th Honduras underwent a military Coup and replaced the elected government with another government and clashes with troops and supporters of the elected president left at least one person dead. Nearly all major world governments have denounced this coup.

On June 30th, a day came that most people have demanded for the past six years, a total U.S. troop withdrawal from all Iraqi cities. While it's not a complete withdrawal of all U.S. forces from Iraq as a nation, it is a major checkpoint towards that goal. However, on the darker side, on July 9th over 50 people were killed in suicide bombings (some being coordinated dual bombings), the worst since the U.S. withdrawal.

On July fourth, North Korea Launched seven missiles into the Sea of Japan in direct violation of UN resolutions. On that same day, several US government agencies, along with the White house, New York Stock exchange, and the department of defense as well as several South Koren government agencies were targeted by a coordinated cyber attack that continued for at least four days. The US has declined to release details of the attack, but South Korea's media has reported that North Korea may be behind the attacks in some way.

On July 5th the Muslim minority living in the Xinjiang province gathered to protest and demand justice. It's still unclear as to what exactly happened but the facts remain that violence erupted with the situation now being that somewhere around 1,000 people have been wounded, hundreds are dead and thousands of Chinese troops are now on the streets in some way to contain the ongoing violence.

On July 9th the U.S. and Russia took steps towards a new period of peace and stability as both countries agreed to cut their nuclear arsenal to bellow 1,7000. A U.S. official has said that there is an informal link between this deal and Russia's and the U.S's attempts to place pressure on Iran and it's nuclear program.




I am in no way saying that we should not honor the memory of someone.

I am saying that three weeks (and counting) of coverage that gave almost every single second to talking about that man, his vices, his scandals, his disgruntled family, his eccentricities, etc, while giving only a cursory mention to the above events is a very very sad indication of our society.

Flux opperates on 1.21 jigs

May I present Flux, the newest member to our little family.


Flux enjoys eating flies, eating his own tail, purring LOUDLY, head butting, scaring himself with whatever he can find, and plotting to gain access to the restricted areas of the house.

He's pretty slick about that last one. The first couple of times he tries the direct approach, where he just decides that he's going into the bathroom, and walks right in. At which point he is removed and told no. Phase two of his ingenious plan is to use stealth. Where apparently if he moves slowly enough then I won't be able to see him, as if I'm a T-Rex or something. Or at least, that's how it works in his world. In our world, he is removed and once again told no.

His final attempt is by far my favorite. Flux will position himself at a safe distance from the door he wants to access but close enough to where he still has a clear view of it. He waits patiently for someone to open the door for themselves, and then he makes his move like a bolt of lightening. With a loud pop (which can only be the sound barrier yielding to his awesomeness) he takes off in a blur of gray and muscles his way into the door using brute force.

He hasn't tried this yet with trying to get into where we store the food, but then again, he could just be doing all of this to keep us occupied while he works on his true plan. That devious cat.
